Webster, TX (July 16, 2009)... Coventry Homes’ entry into the newly opened Edgewater
development is marked by new home designs that reflect the upscale ambiance of the
Bay Area community, strategically located on NASA Parkway at Interstate 45.
Coventry
is offering a generous mix of 28 plans in Edgewater, a much-anticipated project
of The Johnson Development Corp., with a number of new, larger single-story homes.
Coventry will build in two Edgewater neighborhoods, with homes sized from 2,000
to 3,800 square feet on 60-foot homesites, and to more than 4,000 square feet on
70-foot homesites. Prices begin in the $260,000s. Many of the home designs include
such customization choices as media rooms, wine rooms and outdoor kitchens.
Coventry
began selling homes in the 60-foot neighborhood this month and will start construction
on a model home in August. The 3,000-square-foot model home is a new plan for the
builder and features a rotunda entry, island kitchen, master suite sitting room
and optional upstairs bonus room.
“Location and lifestyle combine for an exciting
opportunity in Edgewater,” said James Miller, president of Coventry’s Houston Region.
“Edgewater residents will be only five minutes from restaurants, retail shopping
and entertainment. Plus, Edgewater will be a unique and upscale place for those
interested in living in an urban waterfront community. Coventry Homes is a great
complement to this community with an array of sophisticated designs.”
As the Edgewater
name indicates, water will feature prominently in the community, slated for 2,600
residents and inspired by the Mediterranean coast. In future development, a marina
will be built with direct access to Clear Creek, offering waterway access to Clear
Lake, Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The marina, which will be equipped to
accommodate powerboats as large as 50 feet, will be a meeting place for residents,
who can gather waterside or host parties aboard their yachts.
Edgewater also will
have a 35-acre nature preserve along Clear Creek, which will include boardwalks
through undisturbed wetlands and offer residents abundant bird-watching opportunities.
“We are excited to bring this community to life. There really is nothing else like
it in the Bay Area,” said Doug Goff, senior vice president of The Johnson Development
Corp. “With its enviable location, we think Edgewater will appeal to people who
are looking for quick and convenient access, thus allowing them abundant leisure
time to enjoy a bay area lifestyle. We’ve had strong interest in the development
and since this community has only a limited number of homesites, we anticipate brisk
sales.”
Newmark Homes also builds in Edgewater, on both 60-foot and 70-foot homesites,
with prices from the $270,000s to $400,000s. Model construction begins this month.
Future plans call for semi-custom and custom homes, with buyers enjoying something
a bit different — an island where owners with water access can house their boats
along one of the adjacent canals.
Edgewater is positioned directly on NASA Parkway,
the main thoroughfare leading to the Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston.
The NASA Parkway Bypass is a 2.7-mile connector between Interstate 45 and NASA Parkway
that sidesteps the traffic signal at the Interstate 45 intersection and will provide
future residents with uninterrupted access to and from Edgewater.
